NHW Serpentine Jarrahdale

The NHW Serpentine Jarrahdale group is a collaborative approach to community safety involving residents, the local Shire and local Police.

While crime prevention is obviously a focus , the program is about so much more.  It offers a way for people to make a meaningful contribution to their community while also establishing friendships and building community spirit.

Group members provide local residents with up-to-date crime prevention and safety advice while facilitating open lines of communication with local Police.  The group receives administrative support from the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

As part of NHW Serpentine Jarrahdale, the Shire and the Mundijong Police distribute a monthly ewatch newsletter containing community safety updates and information to more than 1900 subscribers.  ewatch enables “time poor” residents who are unable to commit to attending meetings and active volunteering to keep abreast of local crime and safety issues.

The group meets monthly on the last Wednesday of the month at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, 6 Paterson Street, Mundijong at 5.30pm with Shire staff and local police in attendance.  The group partners with local bush fire ready groups and volunteer fire brigades to provide a series of community BBQs each year.  This year the group has attended a variety of local events and shopping precincts to provide community safety advice and information displays.
