Bunnings supports Neighbourhood Watch philosophy "crime prevention is everybody’s business”
Thousands of Western Australians headed to their local Bunnings Warehouse for Crime Prevention Day on Saturday December 6.
14 Bunnings Warehouse stores including 5 in regional WA participated in the promotion.
Organised jointly by the Office of Crime Prevention, WA Police and supported by Neighbourhood Watch volunteers and the hardware giant, people were able to attend two free Bunnings workshops to learn how to protect their homes and possessions.
As well as learning how to use an engraver and how to install door and window locks those who attended received a kit containing information on Neighbourhood Watch, vehicle security and personal safety.
Office of Crime Prevention Director Wendy Murray said she hoped the workshops would help reduce the traditional rise in crime over the festive period attributed to home-owners going on holiday and not properly securing their residences.
The event was such a success it is planned to make it an annual event.
